Probation or prohibition (only because some are talking about prohibition).

Prohibition.
The period between 1920 and 1933 where the sale of all alcohol was strictly prohibited. As in, one was not allowed to purchase alcohol anywhere.
This lead to the rise of the Mafia, bootlegging, Speak-Easys (clubs where one could consume alcoholic beverages, but if one knew the password to enter), home-brewing of hard liquor; usually called moonshine, and various other societal and political issues such as “tipping culture” in the US.

Prohibition. A combination of a new terrible keyboard and autocorrect is tripping me up constantly lately.

Literally Boardwalk Empire is all of my knowledge of that period of time.

You could say autocorrect was prohibiting you from writing it and put you on probation instead. :)

That’s not an entirely accurate portrayal of events.

Haha knew it looked too much like 400oz. 80 oz did the job.

The really disturbing thing is that I did a history A-Level on that period of American history, and most of my knowledge still comes from Boardwalk Empire.

I did History too but The Great Depression instead. No word on Prohibition whats so ever.

We did the Great Depression too, but still touched on Prohibition, and some other stuff that happened in America between 1900-1940. It’s been about two years, so most of the stuff I picked up on that course is long gone at this point—replaced by a whole shitload of literature.
